December 2008

27 December 2008

The week before last saw big storms and strong winds cancelling a lot of the later dives. Visibility and temperatures plumeted; computers read as low as 16°C and visibilty dropped to 3-5m. The good side of this is that lots of nutrients in the water have brought large schools of fish; including Barracuda and other game fish. Dolphins are sited on a regular basis and we still have a few Raggedtooth sharks on the reef.

As of this update conditions have vastly improved and diving is back on track with fine weather topside.

10 December 2008

Recent dive conditions have been mostly stable. Usually there has been very little current with average to good visibility and some days with spectacular visibility.

Raggie numbers are dwindling as we go into summer but large numbers of Sandsharks and Rays are moving into the area. For those of us who are getting tired of the Raggies the new influx of creatures is most welcome.
